Short memories of my BCJ classmates..
This is the first in the series of my feedback on my
batch mates with due respects to all and those who came to Reunion Get together
organized on July 16 last making it a most memorable Sunday for all of us.
Happiness is…meeting an old friend or class mate after a long time and feeling nothing has changed. But in the case of Vijay Simha and me everything seemed to have changed as only the loud ringing sound of my mobile phone audible to both me and the caller standing next was the lone saving grace for identification. Such has been the change from head of hair to fully trimmed hair with absolutely no change in physique. Happy Reunion after 33 years between us took place on July 11 last in my University with a hug. This has resulted in unquestionably a grandiose Talk on Future of News Room in India with journalism students of our University and other colleagues virtually mobbing Vijay Simha after the Talk for further queries, selfies and what not. I too equally hogged the limelight for organising such a refreshing Talk in the recent times in our university.
Eventually he was the one who kept the idea, of
organising a Get together of batch mates, floating and alive. During the initial stages when I contacted
him on his mobile number, retrieved from OJA group, and shared the get together
idea got a spontaneous response “you are doing a great job boss just tell me a
week in advance so that I can be there”. One more thing I observed was am I
seeing the same person who allegedly pestered some of the batch mates, not me,
for solvent abuse and now talking of helping those working for good cause? One
thing I liked in him was ” I am
comfortable with one lakh ₹ bank deposit and anything more can be donated for
education of needy” and in the process Vijay asked the OU Journalism HOD to
send a requirement for donating mac books to the department.
Although I had
little interaction with him during college days I vividly remember him as the
best brain who usually lived as if nothing in the world could change him. But
eventually change took place thanks to Mr. Periera for complete recast and
further it is astonishing to see the person grow as few among the experiential
addiction Counsellors offering quality drug addiction rehab treatment in the
country. Hope you continue the good work and make very big.
